I currently write and illustrate for children as well as working as a Web Designer, both independantly and for a cool company in Seattle, Well Built Web. I work primarily with watercolor and pencil, as that provides me with a great deal of freedom and flexibility and keeps vitality in my work. I also enjoy working with ink, brush and pen, as well as experimenting with scratchboard. I'm fairly fluent in Photoshop and use that to apply digital color to some of my work in black and white.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Washington, as well as Certificates in Art for the Children’s Market, through University of Washington Extension, and Pattern Drafting. My education also includes a variety of course work in art, computing, and software applications. In my working past, I've spent time on the production, management and design sides of the visual merchandising, special events, and garment industries.
In addition to juggling the above, I love to get lost in a good book, watch movies, hang out with my husband and kids, do my part to keep the Evergreen State green, (in my garden), and eat chocolate every day.
